Donations are always used where the need is greatest

The state of the Baltic Sea is a common concern, but the Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association also wants to draw attention to and safeguard the well-being of Finnish inland waterways. With the help of your donation, we will assure that everyone will be able to enjoy our waterways in an environmentally sustainable way – now and in the future.

Improving the purity of our waterways

Donations help us to maintain our Roope services, which are in place to improve the purity of our waterways and their surroundings and to reduce the effects of eutrophication. There are approximately 200 Roope service stations located throughout Finland’s waterways: waste recycling and disposal stations, dry toilets, dishwashing facilities, saunas, campfire places and floating sewage pumpout stations. We have four service vessels and five maintenance boats operating in different waterways.

Keeping our beaches tidy

We founded the national Clean Beach programme for the purpose of cleaning beaches around the Baltic Sea, lakes and rivers, collecting information about littering on our shores and encouraging people all around Finland to undertake simple environmental actions.

The Clean Beach Sponsor School programme is free and open to everyone. It was established to develop the relationship of children and young people to nature and to help them understand how littering affects the nature of our waterways. The Sponsor School programme offers everyone the same opportunities to increase their knowledge about the environment in an easy and fun way – regardless of their base knowledge or location. Sponsored schools can be comprehensive school classes as well as other groups, such as scout groups or nature school groups.

Our environmental projects make a difference

We participate in impactful environmental projects that promote the responsible recreational use of our waterways. Through environmental projects, we develop, research and introduce new methods and procedures intended to reduce the environmental impact of boating, camping and other forms of water recreation.
